Name:
William Eugene Beckett Jr.
Age:
Twenty-One.
Born February 11, 1985
Status:
In a relationship.
Member in Which Band:
The Academy Is...
Role In Band:
Singer/Guitarist/Lyricist/Frontman.
Eye Colour:
Brown.
Hair Colour:
Brown.
Body Figure:
Tall and somewhat slim.
Habits:
William has a tendancy to stutter when he's talking to someone, and he's terrible at leaving phone messages, as he often says the completely wrong thing. He was on the phone once announcing to his friend, Johnny Minardi, that he would be the Godfather to his first born, and accidently told him he was going to the father.
William has a problem with alcohol sometimes, and once got his friend, Brendon Urie, absolutely hammered. He is often seen or photographed when consuming alcohol. William doesn't have an addiction to alcohol, he's not physical or mentally dependant on it, but it's more than likely he will be suffering from a hang over at some point in the week.
Aside from that William, like everyone, has small habits, he often corrects himself when speaking and he makes faces when he says something that came out wrong. When faced with a camera William almost automatically makes a funny face, unless it's a seirous photo shoot when he's instructed not to smile.
Appearance:
William is fairly tall, and he's also quite lanky because of that. He gets a lot of comments about his weight, often getting told he is under weight. William really hates it when people make comments about how he looks, he gets slightly upset by it all, as really it's none of their business. William has brown hair, and he's heavily influenced by 80's 'hair metal' days. His hair reaches just below his shoulders as of right now.
As for William's clothing style, it often varies, he sometimes wears band t-shirts, such as Blue Oyster Cult. He likes his jeans as well, and wears them quite a bit. He also has a belt with a 'W' on the buckle, which he is often seen in. One of William's onstage trademarks is having a scalf tied around his left leg.
Personality:
William can be somewhat shy at times, due to the fact that he's a little afraid of making a sentence up. The only time he seems to be able to form a complete sentence without saying something wrong or stuttering would be when he's singing. William co-writes the music and lyrics for their band with Mike Carden. William isn't shy at all though, he's outspoken for the most part, and he loves having fun. William is always willing to take photos with fans, or sign something.
His music taste extends from Blue Oyster Cult, The Beach Boys and The Beatles to Kanye West, and he even likes a little bit of Avenged Sevenfold, although he didn't think he'd ever say that. William was always very interested in music, he plays the guitar along with the drums. William has almost completely given up the drums, although when he gets some time off of the band he will play them.
William doesn't like 'groupies', and he's always been very against that kind of thing. Despite this William's not totally against a bit of rock star debauchry, whatever that may entail. He's not one to go completely insane in his tour bus, but chances are something's gonna get broken. William's friends often share the same kind of wild streak that William himself has, therefore it's kind of inevitable something is going to happen to whatever is the most breakable thing in the bus.
William likes to watch horrors movies, and absolutely hates it when his girlfriend drags him to see some horrible romcom. William will deal with it though, he's very patient with people. William can come across as a bit of a bastard at times, but for the most part people describe him as 'sweet'. William doesn't really like the whole rock star business, although he's not against having a bit of fun.
William hates people who act differently for the cameras than they do around their friends, and generally distances himself from those kind of people. When ever people ask about his fame he always thinks about something Marilyn Monroe said about how people become a reflection of what the public want and now who they truly are. William is absolutely determined that no matter what happens he will stay the same person he was.
William is willing to sit with people and talk for hours about anything, from the latest political issue, religion or his beliefs on something. He likes to talk to people about that sort of thing, as well as things like being in a band and the kind of stess is has on everything. William is good friends with the rest of his band, and believes keeping a firm friendship with the people you play with is absolutely essential.
Brief History:
William Beckett was born on February 11th, 1985, in Libertyville, Illinois. His parents weren't exceedingly rich, but they were far from being poor. He was a bit of a strange child at school, often distancing himself from others. He was taught to play the drums when he was twelve years old, but wasn't really into singing at that age. William was some what shy, but after learning the drums he self-taught himself the guitar.
William was told by his friend that he wasn't a bad singer, and William embarked on a solo-project called 'Remember Maine'. He was in rivaling bands with Mike Carden, who he eventually went on to create The Academy Is... with. When Carden's band broke up the pair of them found themselves thrown together simply by fate as both of their bands had broken up. Mike and himself would have long extensive talks about music, and William quickly came to realise that Mike shared the same passion for music as he did.
The band was originally called 'The Academy', but the name was already taken, so they added on the Is... to avoid legal complications. In 2004 the band went through a line-up change, with Tom Conrad joining as their second guitarist. Tom had previously been in the Chicago band 504 Plan. They also got Andy Mrotek as their drummer, more commonly known as 'The Butcher'. After the line up change they tour extensively with Fall Out Boy, with whom they shared a record label, and bands such as Midtown and Armor For Sleep, forming firm friendships with the bands.
William recently collaborated with Cobra Starship, a side project of Gabe Saporta's of Midtown. Gabe and himself wrote the lyrics to 'Bring It', which was created for the movie 'Snakes on a Plane'. Currently William and his band are playing in the Warped Festival alongside some of his friends such as Panic! at the Disco. William has also had guest vocals for Fall Out Boy, Gym Class Heroes and Cute Is What We Aim For, and also appeared in Fall Out Boy's music video for "A Little Less Sixteen Candles A Little More 'Touch Me'".
William has been seeing his girlfriend, Christine Bandy, for quite some time. He met her when he was in high school and has been dating her ever since. He doesn't see a lot of her, as she is currently enrolled in University, and he is in a band.
